Kevin Hart Makes Passionate Case for Spike Lee to Receive Championship Ring as Knicks End 53-Year Title Drought

The NBA world knows the amount of love Spike Lee has for the New York Knicks. All the love and wait paid off this season after the franchise finally won a title after waiting 53 years since their last one. Throughout the journey, loyalists like actor Timothee Chalamet and comedian and filmmaker Lee were with the team.

Another comedian, Kevin Hart, shared his thoughts on Instagram about the Knicks fans’ dedication to their favorite team and how it was even bigger than his hometown team, the Philadelphia 76ers. He also showed his respect for Lee and asked the franchise to present Lee with a title ring:

“Emotions from New York fans are bar none, man. I mean, they are crying, every New York fan, real tears, real emotions… Shoutout to Spike Lee, man, give Spike a ring, Spike deserves a championship ring, and I’m saying in here, give Spike a New York Knicks championship ring, he’s been there for 76 years in the front row.”

The popular comedian and actor ended his video by congratulating the Knicks fans, especially Lee, for being there for the team in every situation. The Knicks loyalist has been a regular at MSG and has been an integral part of the team’s journey.

“Thank You Jesus,” Spike Lee was thankful to god for the Knicks’ title win after 53 years

The Knicks came close several times in the last 53 years, even with big names like Carmelo Anthony and Patrick Ewing. Ewing took the team to two NBA Finals, including the franchise’s last finals appearance in 1999. However, a title was always too close but too far for the team.

Finally, former Knicks star and current assistant head coach Rick Brunson’s son, Jalen Brunson, became the one to end the drought in New York. He was awarded the Finals MVP after a stellar 45-point outing in Game 5.

When a media person asked Spike Lee about his thoughts on the long-awaited win, he said:

“Thank you Jesus. I leave in the morning, so we might go all night.”

When the interviewer asked him after the game about one of the best features of the team, Lee replied that “they don’t quit and no lead is safe.” He also requested fans not to do any “stupid stuff” after the win and enjoy the victory.
