The NBA world is abuzz with new updates every day, and the latest one adds a new layer to the Golden State Warriors’ title contention. The Philadelphia 76ers might be looking to move away from Joel Embiid, given how the 2025-26 season went for them and his constant injury concerns. And NBA Radio host Joe DeCamara has a lucrative option for the Warriors.
LeBron James is also heavily rumored to be in Philly next season, given the type of package that the team is offering. Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe looked promising last season, and James has a great off-court bond with all three. The Warriors are also one of the frontrunners if the four-time NBA champion decides to team up with his greatest rival.
However, if that doesn’t work out for both teams, DeCamara presented another scenario for the teams, where Embiid could be traded to the Warriors in exchange for Jimmy Butler:
“A deal that makes a ton of sense both ways is that the Sixers wanna get out of Joel Embiid to you guys for Jimmy Butler. Jimmy makes $56 million, Joel makes $57 million, so now the rub is that Joel has three years left on his deal and Jimmy Butler has one.”
The analyst also talked about Anthony Davis’ prospects, which have been in talks for a long time. The Wizards reportedly weren’t interested in keeping Davis on the trade block. So, if the Warriors fall short of landing James, the only option might be to get Embiid if they aim for a title run next season. However, things seemed to have changed for the franchise.
Warriors might have to pay a hefty price for Anthony Davis
Even though the Wizards earlier refused to involve Anthony Davis in any trade package this offseason, ESPN analyst Sham Charania stated that the franchise reportedly demanded a hefty price for Davis.
The package the Wizards have demanded reportedly includes Jimmy Butler and multiple first- and second-round picks.
Considering Davis’ constant run-ins with injuries in the past few seasons would be a big reason teams might think before offering that kind of deal to the forward/center. Only time will tell which way the Warriors might decide to move to develop their frontcourt.
