James Harden was all over the internet after Max Kellerman commented with a sly dig at him. The American TV personality compared Harden’s performance in the conference finals against the New York Knicks to Donald Trump’s tenure as the President. However, after the post went viral among fans, Kellerman recently apologized for his remarks.
Kellerman featured on the Game Over podcast with NBA agent Rich Paul, where he talked about his recent comments. He admitted the extent of his statement and apologized to Harden:
“I shouldn’t have said that because it’s not fair to James Harden. I did not mean to insult him publicly in a way that was going to go viral. It was too severe. I don’t think it’s as bad as all that. I don’t think it’s as bad as electing Trump to fix your country but that’s the idea. That’s the opposite of what you’d do if you’re trying to get a certain result.”
The Cleveland Cavaliers have lost the first two games of the series, as the Knicks have been on a winning run. Jalen Brunson has led the team through difficult situations, including the massive 22-point comeback in the fourth quarter of Game 1. Harden’s efficiency, on the other hand, has suffered severely, especially in clutch situations.
“Got to do a better job of contesting shots,” James Harden talks about Josh Hart’s performance
Josh Hart, known for his work on the board and in the paint, had a stellar game offensively. He led the team with 26 points and 10 assists, shooting 10-21 from the field. James Harden, who had a difficult game, addressed the team’s defense post-game and said, via official press release:
“I mean, what, he had 27 points? Yeah, that’s the game right there. Yeah, a couple of them were just wide open, which, you know, you got to do a better job of contesting shots. But I think overall, defensively we’re in a good space. You know, it’s difficult when you just, you know, you’re not making shots, and it puts twice as much pressure on you offensively to make sure—or I’m sorry, defensively—to get stops. And I think we did pretty much a really good job.”
The Cavs will look to win Game 3 at any cost if they want to have a chance in the conference finals. A third loss can be detrimental to their postseason run. Meanwhile, Donovan Mitchell has done his part of the job, averaging 27.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in the series.
The Cavs will have some relief in the third game, as they will be back home. Madison Square Garden is one of the loudest arenas in the NBA, as they put a lot of pressure on away teams. Only time will tell which way the series will go.
