Did Draymond Green Demand Trade From Warriors After Steve Kerr Returns As Head Coach? Debunking Rumors About 4x NBA Champ

After the Golden State Warriors announced the re-signing of head coach Steve Kerr for two more seasons, the rumor tracker now points towards Draymond Green. Meanwhile, recent rumors on social media claimed that Draymond Green might be on his way after the HC announced his decision to stay. But what’s the truth behind?

Green’s name consistently featured in trade rumors during the February 2026 trade period. However, the Warriors have not given any update on him after that. Green signed a 4-year, $100 million deal with the franchise and is due for an extension. Meanwhile, he holds a player option for the upcoming season.

A user on social media claimed that Green might get traded and wrote:

“BREAKING: Draymond Green has requested to be traded to a contender this offseason.”

Not only did no credible source or insider confirm these rumors, but the Warriors have also expressed their wish last year to keep him on the roster. It seems false, in all probability, as several users pointed out in the comments. Notably, Green earlier shared a gripe with Kerr for not letting his offensive game develop, unlike the other players. Apart from that, the 2016-17 DPOY has had healthy relations with the head coach.

Although the above rumor claimed the opposite, by signing Kerr back to the franchise, the Warriors might have just extended Steph Curry and Green’s team-up for a couple of seasons. Considering the bond they share and the time they have spent together, HC’s decision might impact the decisions of the other two.

Draymond Green calls out Shams Charania and NBA for MVP leak

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander grabbed the NBA MVP title for the second time in a row, but the moment was ruined a little. Even before the Canadian superstar was felicitated during Game 1 matchup with the San Antonio Spurs, ESPN analyst Shams Charania shared the update on social media.

Green called out ESPN, which is a media partner to the league, for the leak and said:

“I thought that was pretty pathetic if I’m being honest. Like the NBA has to do something, that can’t be the case. THE MVP gets leaked at 6 in the morning. I thought it was fake, and I got searching on Instagram and like ‘it was true.'”

Draymond Green called the incident “embarrassing” on his The Draymond Green Show and criticized Charania for committing such a blunder as an elite NBA journalist. SGA became the 14th player in the NBA to win back-to-back MVP titles, but the night did not go well for him.

Victor Wembanyama had a monstrous Game 1 with a 41-24 double-double, along with three blocks and a clutch 3-pointer. Even though Alex Caruso had a career playoff game with 31 points off the bench, two steals, and two blocks, the team lost, 115-122. Thanks to his eight points in the fourth quarter, including 2-2 from deep, the Thunder managed to go to overtime. But Wemby just shut the gates in the second overtime and made it clear that he is “No. 1.”
