Donovan Mitchell has reportedly agreed to a four-year, $273 million max extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and his sister sent her wishes on Tuesday. The Cavs superstar has been the cornerstone piece of the franchise, and the front office has shown its trust in him. Moreover, he is also reportedly in the middle of his wedding preparations with singer and songwriter Coco Jones.
After ESPN analyst Shams Charania reported the deal on Instagram on Tuesday, Mitchell’s sister, Jordan Mitchell, reshared the post on her story and wrote:
“Well Deserved!!”
Mitchell had his best season in terms of scoring (27.9), but the Cavs suffered in clutch moments during the playoffs, which sent them packing in the conference finals. However, the shooting guard averaged 27.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists in that series.
The good news comes as he reportedly looks to begin a new chapter in his personal life with his fiancée, Jones. Though no announcement has been made, speculation has arisen due to the couple’s social media activities.

The Cavaliers and the Miami Heat are considering bringing in DeMar DeRozan after the forward was waived by the Sacramento Kings on Monday. The Kings’ decision came after he had one of the lowest-production seasons of his career, averaging 18.4 ppg.
Analyst Matt George of Sactown Sports reported:
“The Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers are currently the two teams with the “most chatter” as potential landing spots for DeMar DeRozan.”
Cleveland brought James Harden to take up the responsibilities of the team in the latter half of last season. However, he didn’t feel his best in clutch situations. With more time with the team, he may eventually feel more comfortable. Moreover, the franchise needed to provide extra help for Harden, besides Mitchell.
While the front office is also rumored to be in contact with LeBron James for a homecoming, DeRozan can be a good option if the James deal doesn’t work out. For now, Mitchell will enjoy that max extension and focus on his off-court preparations.
