Chauncey Billups Breaks Social Media Hiatus With First Post Since NBA Gambling Arrest

Portland Trail Blazers former head coach Chauncey Billups recently took to social media after a long time since he got tangled up in a gambling controversy. He was charged with wire fraud and money laundering last year and was detained for his involvement. The league indefinitely suspended the former HC due to the controversy, and he is currently out on a $5-million bond.

The NBA Hall of Famer pleaded not guilty in the case where he was reportedly accused of financially profiting from rigged poker games along with some notorious names and a former NBA player.

After an extended hiatus from social media since December 2022, the former NBA player recently commented on a video that showed a live performance at the Atlanta Airport due to a long TSA queue. The caption of the video read:

“The Atlanta TSA line is so long the airport hired live entertainment

    This is wild”

Billups seemed to have been stuck in a similar situation, as he commented on the video:

    “Right!!!!”

The five-time NBA All-Star, who won a championship with the Detroit Pistons, was presented in a federal court in Brooklyn on money laundering conspiracy and wire fraud conspiracy charges, each carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. However, his lawyers stated that the Hall of Famer’s legacy in the NBA was proof enough of his innocence on the matter.

Chauncey Billups former team Trail Blazers look to feature in play-ins

The Portland Trail Blazers did not have their best season, as the team is currently ninth in the Western Conference, just half a game behind the eighth-place LA Clippers. Deni Avdija has led the team in points (24.1) and assists per game (6.7), and has created a decent lob threat with Donovan Clingan, who is averaging a double-double with 12.4 points and 11.7 rebounds.

The Trail Blazers will probably meet the Golden State Warriors in the play-ins, who are currently playing without their superstar, Stephen Curry. However, he would be back after the regular season, and containing them won’t be an easy task. The Trail Blazers will now face an ailing Milwaukee Bucks after a win against the Brooklyn Nets.
