In his latest conversation on his podcast, King James heaped praises on the Lakers’ shifty guard and narrated the story behind drafting him.
Featuring on the Mind the Game podcast with LeBron James and Steve Nash, Reaves and the Lakers forward talked about the team’s performance this season and their chemistry on the court. The 4-time NBA champion talked about how he discovered the shifty youngster and his skill set on the court. He said:
“After we signed him, I went back and watched a lot of his Wichita State highlights and games and then a lot of his Oklahoma highlights and games as well. The first thing I noticed, it’s kind of funny. We always talk about this. He didn’t play like a white boy.
It was very different. His wiggle was very different. I mean, I grew up in Northeast Ohio, so I know white guys playing like white guys and white guys playing like the brothers.”
Reaves has had an All-Star-worthy season, averaging 23.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.5 assists. His pairing with Doncic has brought out the best in the Lakers this season. The team was on a hot nine-game winning streak before they lost the last game against the Detroit Pistons.

The Lakers were running a hot nine-game win streak before they faced the Pistons in another road game before the postseason. The team fought till the end, but fell short before the Pistons’ defense. The Austin Reaves-Luka Doncic duo scored 56 points but lost the game in the final minutes, 110-113.
LeBron James registered almost a triple-double with 12 points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists. The Lakers will now face the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse and will look to avoid facing back-to-back losses before the postseason.
