WATCH: Boston Celtics Owner’s Tribute to Drake Maye at NBA Game Goes Viral

The primary owner of the Boston Celtics franchise just had a quick but attention-grabbing tribute to New England Patriots starting quarterback Drake Maye with his team’s recent success.

On Monday, coach Joe Mazzulla’s Boston Celtics were matched up against interim coach Tiago Splitter’s Portland Trail Blazers in the former’s home floor, the TD Garden in Boston.

In a video uploaded by Justin Turpin on his X/Twitter account, Bill Chisholm was seen on the screen, and he had a gesture that has since gone viral online. This is because Chisholm, the managing partner and chief investment officer for STG Partners, LLC. which purchased the Celtics last year, went up from his seat and started screaming while pointing to his black pullover hoodie.

Chisholm’s hoodie had a message that was meant as a tribute for Maye, which read, “I love Drake Maye,” but substituted the word love with an Irish clover. To make the celebration even more special, the owner of the Patriots, Robert Kraft, was also shown on the screen. Kraft calmly greeted the crowd by waving his hand, as opposed to Chisholm’s reaction.

There’s a lot of buzz with the New England-based NFL franchise as the Patriots recently booked their ticket to play in Super Bowl LX. Maye and the rest of coach Mike Vrabel’s current slew of Patriots did so by defeating coach Sean Payton’s Denver Broncos in this year’s AFC championship game by three points, 10-7 on Sunday.

Perhaps the celebrations just keep coming for fans of the Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots, since the two franchises are based near each other, as the former beat the Portland Trail Blazers 102-94. The Celtics improved to a 29-17 record and maintained their second seed standing in the East.
