The U.S Senate has honoured Kyle Busch with a bipartisan resolution on Thursday, June 18. Democrat Senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen, and Republican Senators Ted Budd and Thom Tillis, secured passage of the resolution.
The senators recognised Busch’s legendary career and commitment to his family. The late driver’s NASCAR records were highlighted in the resolution, including his 234 wins across all three National Series. The House of Representatives previously honoured seven-time Cup champion Jimmie Johnson and the late Dale Earnhardt.
Here’s an excerpt from the resolution (via Ted Budd’s official website),
“Busch earned the respect of both opposing drivers and fans through his commitment to providing thrilling entertainment to NASCAR crowds with his performative driving style. … He embraced his role as a champion driver and devoted father, proudly mentored and coached his son, Brexton, who began his own journey in motorsports, and helped to foster the passion for racing in the next generation.”
Kyle Busch has 63 wins in the Cup Series, 102 in the O’Reilly Series, and 69 in the Truck Series, the last of which happened just a week before his tragic loss. Furthermore, the veteran has two Cup titles and an O’Reilly title in his name.
The Las Vegas native passed away from bacterial pneumonia and complications with sepsis. He’s survived by his wife, Samantha, and two kids, Brexton Busch, and Lennix Key Busch.
Brexton follows his father’s footsteps and competes in sprint car races. He recently raced in the Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway, mere weeks after Busch’s passing. His uncle and Hall of Famer, Kurt Busch, cheering him on at the event.
Busch’s father, Tom Busch, also graced the event and led a ceremonial lap behind the wheel of his son’s No.51 legend car.
Samantha Busch shares signs from the late Kyle Busch

Kyle Busch’s grieving wife, Samantha Busch, was last spotted in NASCAR’s tribute at Charlotte Motor Speedway. She later accompanied Brexton for the Summer Shootout event.
Samantha recently shared a deeply personal story on Instagram, recalling how Busch’s sandals bore witness to a special coincidence.
“I finally gave up on sleeping and walked into our bathroom. There, shining directly across Kyle’s sandals, was a rainbow. Not anywhere else in the bathroom, just across his sandals. I literally laid down on them and felt a bit of peace, like he was giving me a sign.”
She added another instance, writing,
“The second moment happened at our church. For the first time since I’ve ever attended, a bird was flying around during the entire service. At one point, it flew over to where I was sitting, tilted its head sideways, looked right at me, and then flew away.”
Samantha further stated that the bird returned and hopped around her feet before flying away. The mother of two found these as signs of Kyle Busch’s presence. Members of the NASCAR community rallied behind Samantha and offered kind words of support.
