Kyle Busch won Saturday afternoon’s Fr8 Racing 208 at EchoPark Speedway, formerly known as Atlanta Motor Speedway, marking his third straight victory at the 1.54-mile quad-oval track. He had excellent help from Spire Motorsports teammate Carson Hocevar, who finished right behind him.
After the race, Hocevar decided to have some extra fun with Busch right on the track. While Busch performed his race-winning burnout, Hocevar lurked in his #77 Chevy Silverado. Right when Busch was done with his first round of burnouts and settled for a second, Hocevar drove slowly towards him and appeared to give Busch a high-five.
Hocevar then performed a short burnout himself and drove away. Busch continued burning rubber in style. NASCAR on FOX had the whole thing on camera and uploaded it on X, with the following caption:
“Carson Hocevar wanted to wingman the burnout for a second after that finish. That was awesome.”
The victory also marked Busch’s ninth career win in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Towards the end of the race, Busch exchanged the lead with Stewart Friesen, but thanks to Hocevar’s push, Busch was able to regain the lead and hold it for the final seven laps.
“This is cool,” Kyle Busch said in his post-race interview. “Huge help from behind. Carson Hocevar was a great teammate today. There at the end, he was my wingman.”
Next up for Kyle Busch is the NASCAR Cup Series Autotrader 400, which will be held on Sunday, February 22, at EchoPark Speedway. Fans can watch it live on FOX Sports, starting at 3 pm E.T or listen to live radio updates on PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
“I’m going to have to be happy”- Kyle Busch reflects on lone void in his NASCAR career
Kyle Busch is a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and made the Championship 4 from 2015 to 2019. He is also the current record holder for most wins among active Cup drivers.
Busch has also won crown jewel events like the Brickyard 400, the Coca-Cola 600, and the Southern 500. However, the only crown jewel event he has yet to win is the season-opening Daytona 500.
“If I don’t ever win it, I’m going to have to be happy with not ever winning it,” Kyle Busch said in a statement. “I’ve pretty much fulfilled my career. If it were to end yesterday, I would be happy with everything.”
This year marked the 68th running of the event, and Kyle Busch finished 15th in his No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevy. 23XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick won the event.
