Novak Djokovic has come a long way with respect to his relationship with fans. Once considered an outsider and less favored against the likes of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, the Serb has really won over the fans by proving himself on the court.
Now, the 24-time Grand Slam champion is much more friendly, and a glimpse of it was shared on Instagram by a fan.
Earlier this month on July 7, when Djokovic was at the Wimbledon practice court, he was stopped by fans to unveil something special. The Serb was asked to unveil a letterhead in which it was mentioned what the gender of the unborn baby was. Djokovic felt “honored” and “privileged” before intriguing the people there.
“What do you guys think? Boy! I want to hear how many for girl,” Djokovic said, before revealing, “It’s a girl!”
Djokovic then congratulated the couple, who revealed it was their first child.
“Thank you for allowing me to be part of this. It means a lot,” Djokovic said. “You’re going to be… she’s going to be your whole world.”
Later, Djokovic met the new parents and even gave them a special memento. He also autographed the letterhead where it was written, “It’s a girl!” Djokovic himself is a parent to son Stefan and daughter Tara, so he knows how special such occasions are.
Novak Djokovic Suffered Another Semifinal Heartbreak Against Jannik Sinner in Wimbledon
Once again, Novak Djokovic made it to the semifinals of a Grand Slam, only to lose to either Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner. That’s pretty much the story since he won his last Grand Slam in 2024.
After his five-set duel with Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinal, the Serb went down in straight sets (6-4, 6-4, 6-4) to Sinner in the semifinal at the All England Club. Djokovic acknowledged that his five-set thriller against Auger-Aliassime played a role in his poor semifinal showdown.
“Not to take anything away from Sinner, but I didn’t physically recover after my previous 5h15m quarterfinal,” he said.
After not allowing the 24-time Grand Slam champion a single break point, Sinner defeated Alexander Zverev and defended his title.
After the latest heartbreak, Djokovic also admitted the end of his tennis career is “closer than ever.” However, he plans to compete in the 2028 LA Olympics.
