Jessica Pegula and other members of The Players Podcast shared their thoughts on the wedding of global pop star Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on July 3.
However, it appears netizens were not fans of their remarks.
Pegula brought the high-profile wedding into the discussion amongst other members, including fellow women’s tennis stars Madison Keys, Jennifer Brady, and Desirae Krawczyk. This is how the conversation went:
“Congrats, guys. I hope she hears this,” Krawczyk said. “Good for them. She got her fairytale ending.”
“I mean, there’s not one thought in this brain,” Brady said. “Everybody under the sun, like, was invited.”
Brady also alleged that Swift probably had “20 exes”:
“Yeah, she’s had like 20 exes or something.”
This hurt the Swifties the most, as did Pegula’s reaction, which was as follows:
“I can’t believe they got married,” Pegula said. “She ended up marrying the jock football player after all.”
As it happened, many taunted the whole The Players podcast group for their remarks at $2 billion worth of Swift (via Forbes) and three-time Super Bowl champion Kelce.
“They could’ve simply not mentioned her rather than being condescending and misogynistic, but well,” one fan wrote.
Jessica Pegula Not Surprised Over Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Iconic MSG Wedding
This was not the first time Jessica Pegula reacted to the wedding of the star couple.
Previously, after the American won her match against Iva Jovic at Wimbledon, the daughter of Buffalo Bills owner was asked about the wedding and if she was keeping up with the updates.
“A little bit. Des is the big Taylor Swift fan. The rest of us, we like listening to her music, but we’re not quite like her,” Pegula said. “It’s been a little bit of a topic because nobody knew what was happening with it.
“Oh, we heard she’s already married. We heard that they put the sign out on MSG. Then you obviously started seeing some of the pictures coming out. Adam Sandler officiated the wedding. We’ve been keeping up on it a little bit.”
About the wedding away from public and paparazzi, Pegula expected it.
“It’s crazy. But it’s Taylor Swift. I don’t expect anything less than doing something different. Not totally surprising. But yeah, interesting. I don’t know,” Pegula said.
In a way, Pegula and Swift are rivals. Pegula’s parents, Terry and Kim Pegula, own the Bills, who are considered one of the biggest rivals for the Chiefs, whom Swift has been supporting ever since she entered a relationship with Travis Kelce.
