Coco Gauff’s ex-coach Brad Gilbert has urged the Golden State Warriors to trade forward Draymond Green and bring back Klay Thompson.
Thompson spent 13 seasons with the Warriors and won four NBA championships. He left in 2024 to join the Dallas Mavericks, following months of strained contract negotiations and a limited on-court role. However, Marc Stein reported that the Mavericks are now looking to trade Thompson as they shake up their roster.
Gilbert, who coached Gauff for a little over a year, replied to a poll asking whether the Warriors should bring back Thompson.
“In a heartbeat 💗 bring Klay back and get rid of Green asap and things are moving in right direction,” Gilbert responded.
When a fan pointed out that Green is one of the NBA’s best defenders, Gilbert responded:
“was a great part of team for long time, now has to go in my humble opinion, can’t be relevant with him starting.”
If Dallas chooses to buy out Thompson’s contract, it would make a potential reunion with Golden State much easier, as the franchise would be able to sign him as a free agent.

After calling out the officiating in football and the NBA for months, Brad Gilbert praised the referees who took charge of the World Cup semifinal between England and Argentina on Wednesday. Gilbert appreciated that the referees allowed the match to remain physical rather than blowing the whistle frequently.
“finally a great 👍 game where refs actually let tons of physical play, and didn’t reward any Lafloppers on the pitch.”
England lost 2-1 to Argentina. However, they bounced back to defeat France 6-4 in the third-place match on Saturday. Argentina will face Spain in the final on Sunday.
