Brad Keselowski has revealed that retaining Chris Buescher was no easy feat. RFK Racing apparently had to fend off rival teams to secure a multi-year contract with Buescher.
Buescher has been a development driver for RFK since 2009. He spent many years with other teams under a lease agreement before returning to RFK full-time in 2020.

“Chris, right now is, you know, obvious a cornerstone of our company. He’s delivered results. He puts us in a position to to win and compete that, you know, I’m really proud of. He’s doing all the work he needs to do to be successful,” he said. (via X/Steven Taranto)
“There was a lot of competition for Chris, a lot of teams in the garage area that wanted him,” Brad Keselowski added, “It was not a layup for us to re-sign him, but we feel fortunate that he felt that our commitment was strong enough to want to stay with us.”
Since 2020, Chris Buescher has largely hovered around the top-20 standings. This season, however, the No.17 driver has made a strong case for the top-10.
He currently ranks seventh with eight top-10s and two top-5s to his name. In contrast, team owner Brad Keselowski is ten spots behind with only four top-10s in 16 starts. The former Cup champion has endured three straight DNFs that’ve derailed his season.
Notably, Keselowski had zero DNFs in the first 13 races.
Brad Keselowski shares a critical take on Carson Hocevar

Brad Keselowski believes Carson Hocevar’s aggressive driving will come back to bite him. Hocevar drew backlash for causing a nine-car pileup at Michigan, a race where he himself finished top-5.
Keselowski, however, refused to give the young driver the benefit of the doubt, saying (via Instagram/Sports on Prime),
“I’ve heard a lot of comparisons to Kyle Busch or Dale Earnhardt, the Intimidator, all those different things. The difference is Carson only has one win. He has 90-plus starts, one win. If you want to compare yourself to Dale Earnhardts and Kyle Busches, you have to win.”
NASCAR fans had other thoughts. They called out Brad Keselowski’s lack of wins this season and asked him to ‘quit whining’.
The No.6 driver came close to a win at Darlington, but he was held off by a faster Tyler Reddick. Keselowski couldn’t win last season as well, as he had three runner-up finishes at Atlanta, Bristol, and Phoenix.
To his credit, the 42-year-old is driving through an injury this season. He broke his right femur while taking a fall in the off-season. Keselowski had to undergo surgery to get him back in the driver’s seat. He walked into Daytona with a cane to support himself.
