In less than a week, the Miami Hurricanes will face the Indiana Hoosiers for the 2026 NCAAF National Championship. Kickoff is set for 7:30 on Jan. 19, 2026.
Miami will enjoy the advantage of playing at home, as the national championship will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Even with home field advantage, Miami enters the game ad 7.5 point underdogs to the No. 1 an undefeated Hoosiers.
With both teams set to play their 16th games of the season, each team has some bumps and bruises on the injury report, but enter the game relatively healthy.
Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristóbal provided an update on the team’s health during his Monday press conference, and feels optimistic about his team’s health heading into the game. Let’s take a look at Miami’s injury report heading into next Monday’s national championship:
Latest On Miami Hurricanes’ Injury Report
Akheem Mesidor
Coach Critobal said defensive lineman Ahkeem Mesidor is in “great condition” after hurting his elbow and now he’s “full-throttle.”
Ahmad Moten
Defensive lineman Ahmad Moten re-aggravated a leg injury during the Fiesta Bowl, but is “full-throttle” and fully participated in the team’s Monday practice.
OJ Frederique
Cornerback OJ Frederique is set to play in the national championship after missing the Cotton Bowl due to a ‘non-contact’ injury. He’s missed five games this season but is “good to go.”
Elija Lofton
Cristobal said that the one in question for Monday’s game is tight end Elija Lofton, who was carted off of the field last game with an upper-body injury.
Damari Brown
Cornerback Damari Brown is considered day-to-day for the national championship game. Brown suffered a leg injury towards the end of the regular season that caused him to miss each of Miami’s three playoff games.
Xavier Lucas
Starting cornerback Xavier Lucas isn’t injured, but he will miss the first half of the national championship game due to a targeting call against Ole Miss in the second half of the semifinal playoff game.
