The Michigan Wolverines and the UConn Huskies are fighting it out tonight for the men’s college basketball national title at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The game closes out March Madness and the season overall.

The Wolverines have been ahead most of the night, despite their star player, Yaxel Lendeborg, being limited throughout the encounter. Lendenborg is struggling with an MCL and an ankle injury. He said:

“I feel awful. I feel super weak.”

Fans online were quick to react to his interview, with the majority appreciating the player who was going above and beyond for his school in the most important game of his career so far.

“Fighting through injuries on the biggest stage… incredible. 🔥,” wrote one fan.

“Bro played hurt the entire half? Respect,” praised him someone else.

“I really respect his commitment to the bit,” said one person.

Others were worried about his physical state.

“Way too many painkillers over the last 48hrs,” wrote another individual.

The majority just had nothing but high praise for him.

“He a DAWG tho,” claimed someone.

Others expected him to recover swiftly.

“Ouch… playing through that takes serious courage. Wishing him a speedy recovery,” wished one fan.

Some thought that Yaxel Lendeborg was making room for himself in case the Wolverines lost.

“Yeah this is something you just don’t say. Leaving room for excuse. You out there, just hoop,” criticized one fan.

Yaxel Lendeborg’s numbers during the national title game against UConn

Lendeborg hasn’t looked comfortable all night. The broadcast constantly pointed out how the Michigan player looked uncomfortable in plays that are usually routine for him.

This makes it all the more impressive that he remains the team’s second-best scorer in the national title game so far, with 13 points. Only one player, Elliot Cadeau, has scored more for Michigan, with 17. Lendeborg also has two rebounds and one assist.
