NFL legend Tom Brady has pledged his allegiance to his alma mater ahead of its men’s basketball team’s national championship game.
On Monday, April 6, coach Dusty May‘s Michigan Wolverines team will face coach Dan Hurley’s UConn Huskies in this year’s national title game on neutral grounds, the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
With the whole Wolverines faithful coming in to support their team in person and virtually, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady has joined in on the festivities. Brady, who played for the Michigan-based program’s football team for four seasons from 1995 to 1999, took to his Instagram account to show his support for May’s squad.
Brady posted a photo with his three children, Jack, Benjamin, and Vivian, in presumably one of the Wolverines’ practice facilities. While they are not wearing anything related to the school, Brady showed his support through the caption, where he tagged Michigan men’s basketball’s official Instagram account. The former NFL superstar called on Coach May and his team to bring the NCAA title back to the school.
“No busted brackets over here… GO BLUE 〽️💙💛 @umichbball bring it home tonight!,” Brady captioned.
Brady will presumably look on as Coach May and his Wolverines attempt to etch their name in history by winning their program’s second national title. The last time the Michigan-based program won the NCAA championship was all the way back in 1989, when they were led by the famous “Fab Five” starting lineup that featured now-former NBA standouts Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, and Juwan Howard.
The Wolverines’ men’s hoops squad is coming off its dominant 18-point win, 91-73, over coach Tommy Lloyd’s Arizona Wildcats in the NCAA Final Four on Saturday.
Tom Brady Won A National Champion During His Time With The Michigan Wolverines
Besides being an NFL legend, Tom Brady is also considered a legend for the Michigan Wolverines. This is because during his college football tenure with the team, Brady was a part of the squad that won the national title in 1997.
This was Brady’s lone NCAA championship before heading to the professional league in 2000. Since then, Michigan has won the NCAA championship only once more in 2023.
