Despite being thrown out of the program four years ago because of NCAA Level I recruiting violations, the LSU Tigers are once again bringing back head coach Will Wade. After holding discussions with NC State to learn if there is still a future, Wade decides to move on to join a program that he was previously involved in before an infamous scandal broke loose.
With the news, Wade’s personal life is getting special attention as fans want to know about his wife, Lauren.
Who Is Will Wade’s Wife Lauren?
Will Wade has been married to Lauren since 2014. She grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina
and graduated from the University of North Carolina.
The couple first met in December 2011 when the head coach was an assistant coach at VCU. Their first date was watching game film together and eating Qdoba burritos as basketball remained at the center throughout their dating. It helped that Lauren was already a big basketball fan. After dating for three years, they decided to tie the knot.
The couple welcomed daughter Caroline Elizabeth, who was born in April 2017, just 40 days after Wade was announced the new head coach of the LSU Tigers.
Just a year later, allegations were leveled against Wade by the FBI as they let the head coach that he was under investigation for illegal recruiting activities. At the time, their daughter was just one, as Lauren described the moment:
“You’re suddenly dealing with this huge burden, and yet no one can know why you might not be yourself or just completely stressed.”
After LSU suspended Wade in March 2019, he stayed at home to take care of their daughter while Lauren returned to work full-time. While Wade was taken aback by the program, in March 2022, he was fired.
“He was always just going, going, going. That definitely helped him put things in perspective and improve areas of coaching and life that he really hadn’t been able to,” she said.
A year later, McNeese State hired Wade as the family relocated to Lake Charles, Louisiana.
“Lake Charles embraced us more than we could have ever imagined,” she said. “The relationship we had with that community was so special.”
Wade is appreciative of the fact that Lauren does a good job with raising their daughter while he is busy conducting his business as head coach.
“They sacrifice a lot for us to run the program. My wife just does a phenomenal job with Caroline, and I’m just appreciative of them,” Wade said.
Now that he once again joins LSU, the family can once again resume their lives in Baton Rouge.
