Todd Golden has been on top of his abilities for a while now. He has a certain coaching philosophy, and he has stuck to it. He has also seen success; the Florida Gators were flying last season with a 36-4 overall record and 14-4 in SEC. They were then seeded first after they won the SEC tournament and went on to win the national championship.
The Gators eliminated the mighty UConn Huskies and won the NCAA title after a close 65-63 win vs Houston.
Todd Golden and the team have not slowed down this season either. They have maintained the same momentum and are playing inspired basketball this season as well. They have a 26-7 record overall and 16-2 in the SEC. They were going strong in the SEC Tournament before the loss vs Vanderbilt, but they still seem destined to end up 1st seed again.
Florida won their third game of the season against Kentucky in the SEC tournament. The first two games ended 92-83 and 84-77, both in Florida’s favor. Once again, the Gators were dominant as they won 71-63. Alex Condon was the top scorer with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists.
After the game, Florida head coach Todd Golden made a comment that certainly did not sit right with Mark Pope, Kentucky and their fans.
“We did what we needed to do. I would have preferred to win this game by 20. But we’ll take this 8-point win. And in the three games that we played these guys, they haven’t led for one minute,” Todd said about defeating Mark Pope and team thrice this season.
It’s the first time Florida has beaten Kentucky three times in a single year since 2014.

Fans did not like Golden’s statement.
“He’s a d*ck. He has “small man’s syndrome.” I mean his shoulders are about 20” wide,” one fan said.
“Todd Golden makes himself very easy for opponents to dislike. Much like Spurrier’s old football post-game comment: “they’ve got a hell of a punter”. But if you don’t like it… gotta beat them,” another explained.
“They won the championship last year and they got a really good team this year… But no need to be insufferable. College basketball can be a humbling game… His moment is coming,” another fan expressed discontent.
“Great coach but seems a total jerk. Nobody cares if their coach is a jerk if he is good. So yeah, we would like him at UK if Pope does not work out. Better chance he ends up at Kansas,” one fan claimed.
“I really don’t like him. Why does he hate Kentucky so much? Lol,” another commented.
“You have SEC refs in your pocket Todd no sh*t,” one fan accused.
Golden is now 4-4 against Kentucky since taking charge of Florida in the 2022-23 season.
