Todd Golden’s time with the Florida Gators has been full of ups and downs. While his team has been impressive on the court, Golden has faced some serious allegations off the court. He joined the program in 2022.
During his ongoing stint, the Gators have won the NCAA Division I tournament, the SEC tournament, and made it to the NCAA Division I regional Final Four. Off the court, his tenure has been highlighted by a Title IX investigation.
In November 2024, several outlets reported that Golden has been accused of sexual harassment, exploitation, stalking, and cyberstalking. The allegations were made by multiple women, including students.
After the allegations were made, Golden became the subject of a Title IX investigation with the University of Florida. He was accused of sending illicit photos and stalking women at various locations.
“The University of Florida takes these matters seriously and works deliberately to ensure that due process is upheld for everyone,” Steve Orlando, university spokesperson, said in a statement.
In January 2025, the University of Florida closed the investigation as it didn’t find any evidence of a Title IX violation.
“After a thorough investigation that included dozens of interviews over the past months, the University of Florida has found no evidence that Todd Golden violated IX. The Title IX office has closed its investigation,” Orlando added.
A spokesperson for the University Athletic Association stated that Golden “demonstrated tremendous focus and professionalism” throughout the process. The university claimed that they didn’t find any evidence against Golden after their “thorough investigation that included dozens of interviews.”
While the investigation was ongoing, Golden released a statement, revealing that he was considering filing a defamation case.
Todd Golden Hired an Attorney During the Investigation
Throughout the investigation, Golden fully cooperated to help the process. He was applauded for the same once the investigation was concluded. However, to protect his own name and legacy, he considered filing a defamation case.
Golden posted his official statement on X, where he said that he respects the confidentiality that’s required for the investigation.
“For the last month, I have actively participated in and respected the confidentiality of an ongoing school inquiry,” he said. “I have recently engaged (attorney) Ken Turkel to advise me on my ability to bring defamation claims while this confidential investigation is ongoing.”
He thanked his supporters for standing behind him and his family during the difficult phase. He also stated that he had faith in the university to conduct a fair investigation.
