After losing out on an NCAA tournament spot earlier this year, the Auburn Tigers broke their four-year streak of qualifying for the 2026 March Madness under head coach Steven Pearl. While the Auburn-based program failed to make it to the 68-team D1 field, they redeemed themselves by winning the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) championship after eking out Tulsa in a 92-86 overtime victory.
Ahead of the new CBB campaign, Steven Pearl and co. would like to translate their NIT success into March Madness as the program aims for a better record in the 2026-27 season.
With the news of an exciting prospect committing to the Tigers, the legacy side could very well reach its past glory. International Basketball’s vice president and Lithuanian agent Tadas Bulotas has confirmed Auburn’s latest commitment in the form of 24-year-old Mantas Rubštavičius.
The 6’8″ Lithuanian wing scoring titan is all set to join Auburn’s 2026-27 roster, bringing his expansive experience having played in the EuroLeague, EuroCup, and the Lithuanian national side.
What makes this declaration even more special is the fact that Rubštavičius is DX’s No. 1 international wing prospect, a much-needed recruiting win for the Tigers considering their March Madness snub last season.
Three-Star SG Caleb Williams Headlines Auburn’s 2026 Recruits
With Mantas Rubštavičius’ commitment, the Auburn Tigers have now successfully locked down a total of three prospects ahead of the 2026 CBB season.
Florida native Caleb Williams could very well be a potent weapon for head coach Steven Pearl, with the 6’5″ SG emerging as one of the top prospects in the country. An ESPN 3-star recruit, Williams garnered a lot of attention from top-tier programs like the UCF Knights and South Florida Bulls, eventually committing to Auburn in late 2025.
Meanwhile, the Tigers will also see the addition of French center Narcisse Ngoy to their roster this season, bringing his French Pro League experience to the NCAA.
Ngoy’s 6’10” frame almost begs the question if the Auburn-based side is employing a new towering game plan of overseas recruits in the upcoming season.
