Yaxel Lendeborg has declared for the NBA Draft. Recently, he commented on what matchup he is most excited for.
“Well, I’m gonna be super excited to play against Cooper Flagg. You know, I know last year I definitely wanted to get the opportunity to match up against him. Obviously, you know, we’re mid-major,” he said.
“We didn’t get the opportunity to play against Duke and all, but I definitely want to see how I translate and how I’ll be able to guard somebody like my height that can do so much so well, you know. So, super excited about that match-up. Also, AJ Dybantsa,” Lendeborg added.
Yaxel Lendeborg has worked his way to becoming one of the most valued players in college basketball. He was Dusty May’s right-hand man for the Michigan Wolverines’ unstoppable national championship run this year. Michigan beat Dan Hurley’s UConn to win the NCAA title after 37 years.
In the title run, Yaxel was extremely crucial for all 40 games for the Wolverines. He averaged 15.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. After three seasons in junior college and two years at UAB, Lendeborg transferred to Michigan for his senior season. And that was most certainly the best decision he made to finish his college career.

“As I reflect and prepare to take the next step in my career, I am so grateful, it’s amazing how much can change in a year and this journey has been incredible. I’ll remember it for the REST of my life. To the entire coaching staff, you saw something in me and took a chance. Thank you for pushing me to never settle. We faced challenges but under your mentorship, I became a better player and person every single day,” he wrote.”
To my teammates, thank you for grinding with me. It was an honor to play with you all and I’m looking forward to continuing to celebrate your successes the same way you all have celebrated mine. What we built wasn’t given, it was earned and our legacy is forever stamped in Michigan’s history. We shocked the world. Job complete. To the best fans in the nation, thank you for embracing me through it all. The energy, the support, the love; I felt it every time I stepped on that floor. You made Ann Arbor home,” he continued.
To my Mom, everything I am is because of you, your sacrifices, your belief, your strength; you never let me quit, even when things got hard.
