‘Most Unforgivable Thing Mark Pope Did’: Fans React As Kentucky Releases New Schedule for Indiana Matchup

College basketball is all set to see another legacy rivalry come to life as the Kentucky Wildcats are all set to face the Indiana Hoosiers later this year. After initially scheduling a December 27 tipoff, the game is now slated to take place on November 20 at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

However, it looks like certain sections of the viewers aren’t too keen on the two legacy programs going head to head once again, expressing their displeasure on X:

“Yuck. The most unforgivable thing mark pope did is bring back this series”, wrote a fan.

“A dead program and a dying program see what they will become this year and for the foreseeable future”, stated a fan.

“Holy snooze fest”, said a fan.

“Two bottom feeders”, commented a fan.

“Wow, this is going to be the hottest game of 1987!”, stated another fan sarcastically.

“Just two mid majors”, said another fan.

However, a certain section of the fan base expressed their enthusiasm too upon the news of Kentucky and Indiana clashing later this year.

“Cannot wait!! biggest game of the season in my book. Gotta beat the kitty cayuts”, wrote another fan.

“Primetime 8pm ET it seems like?”,  commented another fan.

This legacy rivalry comes on the backdrop of both programs signing a four-year-long series up to the 2028-29 season. The 2025 season was the last time the sides played each other, ending their 14-year-long CBB sabbatical.

Kentucky Wildcats vs. Indiana Hoosiers H2H: Who Holds The Edge?

After playing their first-ever game back in 1924, Kentucky and Indiana have since then played a total of 57 games against each other across competitions. While this rivalry has been immensely competitive, the Kentucky Wildcats hold an overall historic edge, having won a total of 32 encounters as opposed to the Hoosiers’ 25.

The Wildcats, in their last showing yet again, continued their dominance over the Hoosiers after defeating them by a score of 72-60 at Rupp Arena last year.

While Darian DeVries and Indiana would like to close the gap with rivals Kentucky later this year, playing the game at a neutral venue in Indianapolis could hurt their chances, especially since the previous meeting between the two sides was played at Kentucky and this matchup ideally should have been hosted by Indiana.
