Milan Momcilovic has arrived in Kentucky, and fans are ecstatic. The Iowa State transfer was the subject of many discussions in Lexington long before he decided to withdraw from the NBA draft and signed with Kentucky about a week ago.
Now he’s on campus, taking in his new surroundings. In an official interview with the Wildcats’ social media team, the 21-year-old explained exactly what fans can expect from him in his first season at Kentucky.
“I’m going to bring a good positivity to the core, and a good personality and I’m also going to bring a lot of three-point makes to the core,” he said.
What perhaps stands out most in Momcilovic’s address is his statement about three-point shooting. He was arguably the best shooter in the NCAA last season at Iowa State, making him a hot commodity across college if he decided to withdraw from the NBA draft.
And that’s exactly what happened. Momcilovic was being pursued by several teams, with Kentucky, Louisville and Arizona reportedly the final three left to choose from once the decision to withdraw was clear.
Kentucky won the sweepstakes in a deal reportedly worth over $6 million, but the program could benefit from three-point scoring of the kind it hasn’t seen in a long time at the Rupp Center.
Milan Momcilovic Will Have Some Good Company at Kentucky
Milan Momcilovic certainly won’t be the only one bearing the burden of scoring and performing at Kentucky.
The Wildcats received a major boost with Malachi Moreno’s return. He was arguably the best player in a Kentucky jersey last season. Moreno’s scoring prowess, combined with Milan Momcilovic’s shooting ability, could make Mark Pope’s team a real candidate for the SEC title.
