The Tennessee Volunteers and Alabama Crimson Tide just concluded a highly entertaining game on Saturday. Tennessee and Alabama have been playing some top basketball lately. Freshman Nate Ament for Tennessee has turned a lot of eyes towards him with some great games. In 28 games so far, he is averaging 17.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
Alabama, on the other hand, has been in the news more for the Charles Bediako situation, wherein he has been ruled ineligible to play college basketball. But despite losing Bediako, the Crimson Tide are on a seven-game winning streak.
Bama extended that lead to eight games after a big comeback win over Tennessee. The Vols lost despite being up 40-28 at halftime.
However, there was a much more concerning incident that happened during the game, which might affect their chances of going deep into the NCAA tournament. Star Nate Ament suffered a worrying injury.
Nate Ament rolled his ankle while trying to grab the loose ball when Alabama player fell on his leg. It was a nasty fall as Nate Ament had to leave the court limping after playing only 11 minutes. He walked off on his own but was not present on the Tennessee bench.
Ament is certainly one of the most important players for Rick Barnes and if he misses any part of March Madness, it would be a big concern for Tennessee.
Alabama get past Tennessee in miraculous comeback
Despite Nate Ament’s injury, Tennessee was still really close to getting the victory. They led Alabama for the most part of the game. However, Nate Oats’ men fought back and completed an insane comeback. Alabama only led for about over 20 seconds and that’s all they needed to win the game.
Labaron Philon Jr came off the bench and took the game by the neck. He outscored Tennessee in the last few minutes and ended up with 23 points in 28 minutes. Another standout performance for the Crimson Tide was from Latrell Wrightsell Jr., who had 25 points. The Vols, on the other hand, could not keep their composure and crumbled under pressure. The game ended 71-69 in Alabama’s favor.
