During Wednesday’s game against Texas, forward Thomas Haugh left the game early with an apparent ankle injury. He landed on another player’s foot as he went to block a shot. Haughes went up to make a block on Texas’ Dailyn Swain but went down, appearing to tweak his right ankle. He left the game right away and was on the bench until there were 12:43 left to play.
Haughes left the game, making just three points. However, he was touted to make some noise in this game as he has been leading the Gators with 17.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. He has also been shooting 46.8% from the field, including 34.7% from the deep. With this, Haughes has created a good amount of buzz ahead of the 2026 NBA Draft.
Ahead of the Gators’ upcoming game against the Arkansas Razorbacks, there are concerns about Haughes’ availability for this matchup. However, there are no such injuries to report from Florida, and it is most likely that Haughes might as well start for this game. It would be interesting to see how Haughes continues to perform with just a week left in this season.
Perhaps it is important to note how important this update might be. Thomas Haughes has rarely missed a game, playing in 99 consecutive games before his 100th appearance. To sum this up, Todd Golden had said, “What’s the saying? Your best ability is availability? That shows up for him quite a bit.”
How Does Florida Look Entering Today’s Game?
Florida enters this game coming off an eight-game winning streak and is projected to be on the two-seed line by most bracketologists. Joe Lunardi had moved Florida up to a two-seed after their last win against Kentucky. A win over Arkansas tonight can go a long way. If the Gators can grab this win over Arkansas with a healthy Thomas Haugh leading the pack, it could go a long way toward locking in a top seed.
We can still expect Haughes to be a full go tonight. He is motivated to bounce back in a big way on the biggest stage of collegiate basketball, looking to have the grabs on the massive SEC title on the line.
