Duke Blue Devils commit Bryson Howard has gone viral once again for the way he embarrassed his opponent during a competitive high school game. Howard is currently ranked as the 21st overall five-star recruit in the high school class of 2026, and is hailed by many as the most talented prospect for Duke in the upcoming 2026-27 season.
The young talent is best known for his athleticism and ability to score around the rim. Howard’s abilities were on full display in a viral video on X/Twitter, wherein he was hitting emotes on his defender during a game.
Howard called for an isolation as he sized up his defender, and even danced on him while dribbling at one point. The Frisco, Texas native then showed off his handles before blowing by his opponent by dribbling through his legs. Howard then picked up the ball low from a help defender and skied high for a tomahawk dunk.
It seems Howard’s confidence is growing day by day, and it’s all the more likely that he’ll be able to translate his readiness to the college level. The Frisco Heritage High School guard is wrapping up his final year of high school hoops before joining coach Jon Scheyer’s team during the offseason. The Blue Devils made it all the way to the Elite Eight last season before losing to the UConn Huskies.
Bryson Howard said that the Duke Blue Devils system fits his playstyle
Back when he announced his commitment to the Duke Blue Devils in October last year, Joe Tipton of On3 asked Bryson Howard about the factors that led him to choose Duke. Howard then shared that he feels like he fits seamlessly with the system the program imposes. For decades now, the Blue Devils have usually relied on an individual star as the forefront of their system year in and year out.
“I chose Duke because I feel like I fit perfectly into their system especially with how they play defense, move off the ball, and space the floor. Also the way everyone there treats each other like family really stood out to me and made me feel this is the right home,” Howard was quoted as saying.
