Former Kentucky Wildcats guard Kerr Kriisa is best known for his six years in college basketball and the missed opportunity with the Wildcats. After spending three years with the Arizona Wildcats and one season with the West Virginia Mountaineers, Kriisa transferred to Kentucky for the 2024-25 season. Unfortunately for Kriisa, he only played nine games there after suffering a season-ending fracture on his foot.
On Saturday, July 4, though, reports have surfaced that Kriisa has since been arrested by the FBI. According to WKYT, per On3, Kriisa was arrested in connection with allegedly point-shaving during his time with the Mountaineers. The report further detailed that the case is being described as a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme. There are no other confirmed details about the case, but a court hearing is said to be scheduled next week.
Kriisa eventually finished his college career after going through a lengthy injury recovery with the Cincinnati Bearcats in the 2025-26 campaign. There, Kriisa played 19 games and even started in 12 of them. The Vissu Küla, Estonia native averaged 5.8 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in around 20.9 minutes per contest. It remains to be seen how Kriisa will handle the fraud case against him.
Kerr Kriisa once opened up about his worries during his injury recovery process
Kerr Kriisa was supposed to be a steady floor general for coach Mark Pope’s Wildcats during the 2024-25 campaign. Coach Pope always talked highly of Kriisa, even when he got injured. On multiple occasions, coach Pope talked about how resilient Kriisa was throughout his recovery. Still, Kriisa told Ben Roberts of the Lexington Herald Leader in March last year that no matter how much he wanted to return, he felt his body didn’t allow him to.
“I started feeling it a little bit more and…This is something I don’t want to play with. This is a surgery. This is not an ankle injury that, you know, twisted, then you’ll be back in a week or two. If it’s a surgery, it’s something that I don’t want to mess with. And when I felt very uncomfortable and painful, I kind of had to take a step back and then revisit the situation and all that. So, yeah, this is something I didn’t want to play with,” Kriisa said.
