Jon Scheyer’s Duke Blue Devils were eliminated in March Madness earlier than expected. Dan Hurley’s UConn Huskies defeated them in a 73-72 win, thanks to Braylon Mullins’ 35-footer.
With the season coming to a close, it’s time for the program to turn its attention towards the recruiting cycle and once again form a formidable squad.
Duke holds the No. 1-ranked recruiting class in the 2026 cycle. Their top commits are three five-stars, including Cameron Williams (No. 2 overall prospect), Deron Rippey Jr. (No. 1 point guard in the class) and Bryson Howard.
They also have four-star Maxime Meyer’s commitment, who is a 7-foot big man.

- Miikka Muurinen
According to ESPN, Duke is targeting Finnish basketball player Miikka Muurinen, a power forward standing 6-foot-10 tall. He’s widely considered one of Europe’s top young prospects and a potential NBA lottery pick.
The consensus five-star and top-15 recruit is undecided on his path forward. Aside from Duke, he’s also being recruited by Kentucky, Arkansas, North Carolina, Michigan, Indiana and NC State.
2. Brandon McCoy
The point guard from Bellflower, California, went to Sierra Canyon School and is widely regarded as a 5-star recruit. Jon Scheyer’s Duke offered McCoy in July 2024.
He took an official visit to Duke in November 2024.
While early on, Duke was considered to be serious contender, things have cooled off slightly. Meanwhile, other programs like Oregon, Arkansas, and Michigan have gained traction in his recruiting.

While Howard was snubbed from the All-American game, Williams and Rippey Jr. were both selected. Williams is already showing excitement for the next season with their goal nothing short of an NCAA championship.
“To come in there with the right mindset,” Williams said. “Stay working. Me and [Deron] Rippey are going to do our job when we get there. We’re going to listen to the coaches, and our top priority is just going to win and get a National Championship.”
Williams is likely to step in for departing Cameron Boozer. Meanwhile, Rippey Jr. and Howard also figure to be starters on Scheyer’s 2026-27 team.
Depending on whether Caleb Foster and Cayden Boozer decide to return, the back court will have some contenders to challenge for the few remaining spots.
