Kiyan Anthony’s rookie season with the Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team isn’t going as expected. Anthony has shown flashes of brilliance but has struggled for most of the season so far.
In 23 games, he is averaging just 8.9 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1 assist. He is shooting over 41% from the field, 23.3% from the three-point line, and 61.2% from the free-throw line.
The difference in home and away game numbers shows that Anthony is more comfortable when he has the home court advantage. He averages 10 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists with 47.3% shooting from the field.
He’s still very new to the Syracuse setup and will have plenty of time to develop and live up to his potential. Anthony has all the support he needs on this journey. His father, Carmelo Anthony, is an NBA and Syracuse legend.
His mother, La La Anthony, has always been very supportive of him. La La has been to countless games and shows love and appreciation for the 18-year-old every opportunity she gets.
La La recently went to the Super Bowl in Santa Clara and enjoyed the final game of the NFL season and the halftime show performance from Bad Bunny. She posted pictures and videos on Instagram, recapping her Super Bowl experience.
She went to the game with some of her closest friends, including her best friend Ciara. She can be seen posing for pictures and dancing with Ciara in her media dump. Her post featured some other high-profile celebrities as well.
La La posted a video in which she can be seen with Cardi B, the rapper who has been dating the Patriots wide receiver, Stefon Diggs.
Kiyan Anthony was Benched Against Virginia
Until last week, Anthony played every game for Syracuse. He was averaging nearly 20 minutes per game this season. But he was shockingly benched when Syracuse played the Virginia Cavaliers.
Syracuse ended up losing that game 59-72, and Anthony didn’t play a single minute. When the coach was asked about it at the post-game press conference, he stated that there was no injury concern and that he decided to bench the shooting guard on his own.
“No injury concern, it was just my decision,” he SAID. “This is a physical team, an experienced team, and I just…it was just my decision, nothing else. No injuries or anything else like that.”
Adrian Autry made it clear that there was no reason to speculate on anything or spread false narratives. It was simply his decision to bench Anthony, and he stood by it even after the loss.
