Jon Scheyer Family: A Look at Duke Coach’s Wife and Kids

Duke coach Jon Scheyer has been in the spotlight ahead of this year’s NCAA Tournament. The Blue Devils are projected to earn a top seed for March Madness, with many believing that they could go all the way and win the national title.

Since Scheyer is under some pressure to deliver the championship at Duke this season, fans want to know more about his family life, especially his wife, Marcelle Provenical.

Marcelle was born on June 5, 1987, in  Lauderdale, Florida. She was raised in Florida before moving to North Carolina for graduate school.

According to reports, Marcelle attended Duke. She met her future husband, Jon, at the university in 2010.

Marcelle graduated with a master’s in nursing in 2016. She currently works as a family nurse practitioner.

Jon and Marcelle got engaged in August 2015. They married on May 6, 2017.

Jon and Marcelle have three children together: a daughter, Noa (born on Jan. 29, 2018), and sons, Jett (born on Aug. 24, 2019) and Jam (born on May 18, 2022).

Jon Scheyer and his Wife Marcelle Created the “Scheyer Kid Captain” Program Together

During the 2022-23 college basketball season, Jon and Marcelle started the “Scheyer Kid Captain” program. The program’s partnership with Duke Children’s Hospital invites children facing serious health battles and their families to spend a game day with the Blue Devils.

In March 2024, Marcelle shared her emotions about the “Scheyer Kid Captain” program.

“I definitely get teary-eyed and choked up,” Marcelle said about joining the kids at center court. “I’m such an emotional (person), especially when it comes to kids. What these parents and families are going through. It’s just unthinkable. I feel so honored to lead this program. I wish we could do it a million times over.”

Duke hired Scheyer as an assistant coach in 2014. He was promoted to associate head coach in 2018 and held the role for three seasons.

Scheyer took over as Duke’s head coach in 2022, after Mike Krzyzewski’s retirement. Since then, he has led the Blue Devils to two regular-season titles and three ACC Tournament titles.

Scheyer was named the ACC Coach of the Year this season.
