The Ohio State Buckeyes have had a turbulent run this season. In the final stretch of the regular season, they went off track, losing five of eight games to start their run in February. Overall, they’re sitting at 21-12 and 12-8 in the conference.
The Buckeyes recovered from the losing streak and won four games in a row in March. They thrashed the Indiana Hoosiers in the final game of the regular season and won the first game of the Big Ten Tournament against Iowa.
Just when things were seemingly getting back on track, the Buckeyes lost to the Michigan Wolverines in their Big Ten Tournament matchup. The 67-71 loss against Michigan has made fans worry about their chances of making March Madness.
However, there might not be anything to worry about. Before losing to Michigan, the Buckeyes had stacked their wins for the season, and they have a very strong chance of being selected for March Madness.
The Buckeyes have a No. 26 ranking on KemPom, three Quad 1 wins, and six Quad 2 wins. These stats show just how impressive their run has been this season, and it’s tough to make a case against that.
Although nothing is certain until the final list gets released after the committee makes its final decision, the Ohio State Buckeyes are most likely headed to March Madness. It will be shocking if they are left out.
Their 72-69 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes in the first game of the Big Ten Tournament nearly cemented their place. Fans will have to wait a few more days for the official confirmation, but it’s safe to assume that Ohio State will be in the March Madness bracket.
Ohio State Head Coach on Bubble Talk
There are a lot of conversations happening around Jake Diebler’s team on a day-to-day basis. The Ohio State Buckeyes are one of the biggest programs in the country, and they will remain a topic of discussion regardless of how their season goes.
When Diebler was asked if he pays attention to the outside noise and the conversations that happen around his team’s chances, he said that being aware of everything is part of his job. However, he never allows himself to be occupied by it.
“There’s so much outside noise right now that we have to have tunnel vision, laser focus, and our guys have done that. I think that combined with the fact that we’re actually a lot healthier than we’ve been is a big reason why we’re playing the way we are,” he said.
Going into the Michigan game, Diebler was confident about his team’s chances against them. But the Wolverines came in better prepared than the Buckeyes.
