Florida Gators coach Todd Golden and Arkansas Razorbacks coach John Calipari have gone viral over their verbal altercation during their most recent regular-season matchup. On Saturday, Feb. 28, Golden and his 2025-26 Gators squad were matched up against Calipari’s Razorbacks in the former’s home arena, the Stephen C. O’Connell Center in Gainesville, Florida, for the continuation of this year’s conference play.
In a video posted by @TheFieldOf68 on X/Twitter, a clip from the game was captured that shows Golden and Calipari going at it with another in the 17:27 mark of the second half of the hotly-contested affair. Both coaches were vividly heated with one another, as they were seen shouting with their respective staff members holding them back. As a result of this, both Calipari and Golden were hit with double technical foul calls by the referees.
Unfortunately for Calipari and the Razorbacks faithful, the Arkansas-based program was dominated by Golden and the Gators in away territory by 34 points, 111-77. The win presumably boosts Florida’s morale for consecutive national titles, given that they are the reigning 2025 national champions. Calipari and Co. will look to finish their regular-season schedule strong heading into the postseason.
The Gators now hold an overall record of 23-6 (14-2 SEC), while Arkansas falls to an overall record of 21-8 (11-5 SEC).
Todd Golden And John Calipari Said Their Double Technical Fouls Were Just Them Competing
During their respective post-game press conferences, as pointed out by college hoops writer Kevin Brockway, both Todd Golden and John Calipari were asked about the technical foul calls they got, and if it means anything more towards their rivalry. Both coaches were quick to dismiss any added meaning to them, though, as they both deem it to be just a part of their intense competition.
“The tech, both of us were just coaching our team. He’s obviously a Hall of Fame coach, an incredible coach and we’re just out there competing. I don’t think either of us thought twice about it after it happened, but it was a little bit part of the game tonight,” Golden was quoted as saying.
“Who knows? We’re both competitors. He’s done a great job. I can tell you, he out-coached me today,” Calipari shared.
