“I Was Pretty Limited”: Malachi Moreno Gives Honest Assessment of Kentucky Past and What He Wants To Improve

Malachi Moreno is back at the University of Kentucky, and the Big Blue Nation (BBN) is counting on him to get back to his best if the Wildcats are going to have any chance of winning silverware this season. For Moreno, however, a return to Kentucky means he needs to do a few things better than he did last season, and he isn’t afraid to point out his flaws.

When asked about his biggest area of growth that he wants to focus on, a brutally honest Moreno made it clear that he wants to make multiple changes to his game, which might have been a bit too easy to pick off last season.

“Just changing my overall game really,” Moreno answered.

“Last year I was pretty limited, so people were able to kinda make a defense around that, but I think if I can come in and just become more versatile and be able to change the way that I play the game, the way I see the game, I think it just messes with a whole bunch of defenses and it really makes them change a lot and I think that makes us dangerous.”

Moreno Almost Made it to the NBA Draft Before Returning to Kentucky

Malachi Moreno made the SEC All-Freshman team this year after a decent first year at Kentucky, and that confidence was enough to make him believe he should declare for the NBA draft, but shortly before the NBA draft withdrawal deadline, Moreno pulled out.

Kentucky head coach Mark Pope welcomed the decision, as it adds more fire power to a Wildcats team that has also added Milan Momcilovic to its attack, making them a formidable side on paper.

With four-star recruit, Ryan Hampton, also joining the Wildcats, and more rumored to join, it appears Moreno might have a stronger team this season as the Lexington side aim to go all the way in the SEC.
