The Gonzaga Bulldogs and the Kennesaw State Owls will start their 2026 NCAA Tournament run at Moda Center in Portland. These two teams have had very different journeys to March Madness.
The Bulldogs led the West Coast Conference, going 30-3 overall and 16-2 in the conference. They did not lose a single home game.
The Owls, on the other hand, found themselves struggling at times in the Conference USA. They finished with a 21-13 overall record. Both teams won their respective conference titles.
Heading into the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the Bulldogs and the Owls will miss some key players. Gonzaga forward Braden Huff is on the injury report, listed as out due to a knee injury. Everyone else is fit to play.
The Owls have three players listed on the injury report. Brendan Tousignaut, Chase Clemmons, and Davin Cosby Jr. have been ruled out with undisclosed injuries and will miss the rest of the season.
Mark Few on Gonzaga’s NCAA Tournament Seeding
After weeks of anticipation about their NCAA Tournament seeding, the Gonzaga Bulldogs and head coach Mark Few found out that the committee had placed them at No. 3 in the West Region.
Few praised everyone for their hard work over the months leading up to March Madness.
“Everybody’s excited for this day. It’s a culmination of all the work we put in, all the way since late June. Just anticipation and the excitement of seeing your name pop up, it’s always great to see it. I never take that for granted,” he said.
“We got a lot of buddies in the profession that are sitting at home watching [the selection show] with their seasons over, so, I know I never take it for granted. It’s definitely the greatest day of the year in the professional for me.”
Few added that making it to the NCAA Tournament was hard, so he was glad to make the cut.
