There is no rest for the weary, as after winning a national championship with the Michigan Wolverines, head coach Dusty May immediately went back to work recruiting and dealing with the transfer portal.
He went viral as a picture of him getting immediately back to work shortly after winning the natty is doings the rounds on the internet, and this was soon brought up in an interview with Barstool’s Dave Portnoy, a Michigan superfan.
The world-famous pizza reviewer asked May what he has been doing and added if he would go right back to recruiting after the victory parade on Saturday. Dusty May admitted, that yes, work is not done for him yet.
“Now we’ll have recruits on campus hopefully on Saturday if we could make that happen,” May said. “Yesterday morning, we got on a plane, and when the plane landed, and as soon as I got home, and until I crashed, I’ve been making calls and getting ready.”
That being said, May has not actually gotten to enjoy his victory as he braced for the transfer portal as well as making deals and phone calls to possible recruits. His work ethic has gotten him a lot of praise and was also able to squash some rumors that he was leaving for North Carolina to replace the fired Hubert Davis there.
Who Has Dusty May Recruited So Far From High School
When it comes to recruiting, Dusty May has just delivered for the Michigan Wolverines. So far, he has signed No. 44 Quinn Costello (PF) from The Newman School in Massachusetts, No. 95 Joseph Hartman (SG) from The Rock School in Florida and No. 169 Malachi Brown (SF) from Knoxville Catholic. He also signed Spanish seven-foot center Marcus Moller.
However, the cream of the crop is Brandon McCoy Jr. from Sierra Canyon in California. The No. 14 overall is considered one of the best point guards in high school and he will be joined by No. 45 overall Lincoln Cosby from Montverde Academy in Florida. Both are still not hard commits so they can still flip, but many expect them to stay with Michigan.
