“F*ck Duke”: Siena’s Gavin Doty Limps Away in Anger During Interaction With Hubert Davis’ UNC Member

Siena Saints guard Gavin Doty was visibly angry following his team’s 65-71 loss to the Duke Blue Devils, as a member of the North Carolina Tar Heels agreed with him.

On Thursday, March 19, Doty and the rest of coach Gerry McNamara’s Saints were up against coach Jon Scheyer’s Duke Blue Devils in the first round of the East Region of the 2026 national tournament on neutral grounds, the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.

Unfortunately for Doty and company, they lost to the Blue Devils despite leading 43-32 at halftime. Despite the defeat, Siena has presumably earned the respect of the college basketball world as it almost upset the No. 1 overall seed.

Doty was extremely upset. In a video posted by @KeepBlitzin on X/Twitter, he was captured limping to the locker room while lashing out at Duke. A UNC staff member responded in agreement.

The reason the UNC staff member may have joined in on Doty to talk ill of the Blue Devils is that the Tar Heels and Duke have been archrivals for decades now. They form one of the premier rivalries in all of collegiate basketball. Siena and North Carolina may have pledged a quick allegiance against Duke for now, as the Durham, North Carolina-based program moves on to the second round to take on the TCU Horned Frogs.

Jon Scheyer Shows Love To The Siena Saints At His Post-Game Press Conference

Alternatively, Duke Blue Devils coach Jon Scheyer actually showered love on Gavin Doty and the rest of the Sienna Saints during his post-game press conference. This is in contrast to how Doty acted after his team’s first-round loss. Scheyer gave the Saints their flowers when he asserted that the game against Sienna was the “toughest” he had experienced in his current role.

Scheyer even compared it to previous tough games in his tenure.

“ Toughest one, not close. Toughest moment. Toughest game. Toughest position I’ve ever been in the tournament. No question about it, and you have to credit Sienna for that…You have to credit Sienna. But again, what was it? Down 13, right away they scored starting the second half like, all right, you, you got to show what you’re made of. And these guys really did that,” Scheyer said. (0:17)
