Cameron Boozer is being touted to get picked as one of the top 3 in the NBA Draft. His twin, Cayden Boozer, on the other hand, has also made a future decision.
Duke guard Cayden will return for his sophomore season at the Blue Devils, the team announced. Cayden has decided not to declare for the NBA Draft or enter the transfer portal. He has shown loyalty to Jon Scheyer’s program and is ready to give his best next season.
Cameron Boozer and Cayden Boozer attracted fans’ attention from the very moment they committed to the Duke Blue Devils, their father and Duke legend Carlos Boozer’s alma mater. There was a lot of expectations from Duke after the star-studded recruitments.
However, things did not pan out the way the Blue Devils would have wanted. Despite the emergence and outright dominance of Cameron Boozer, Duke fell short in the Elite Eight against the UConn Huskies after Braylon Mullins’ last-second three-pointer from the logo. Many believed the Duke could go all the way and win the national championship.
Fans react to Cayden Boozer returning to Duke
In the freshman season, the Boozer twins solidified their talent. While Cameron Boozer was one of the best players in college basketball, Cayden played as a role player and often contributed to Duke’s win.
Fans online were divided on whether Cayden’s return is the correct choice.
“Bro threw away his entire NBA career off this one turnover,” one fan recalled Cayden’s mistake, which led to Duke’s exit from the NCAA Tournament.
“Is this the guy who lost Duke the game or was that the brother,” another fan wondered.
“He will make so much more money at school than being a second-round pick/summer league guy,” one fan approved the decision.
“Why not go to the nba like everyone else????” another questioned.
“That’s a good decision he can develop more and be a earlier next year,” one fan commented.
“Let’s not act like he had any other options lmao,” one fan mocked.
