Duke Blue Devils forward Cameron Boozer suffered an additional setback in his team’s most recent postseason game that ended in heartbreak for him.
On Sunday, March 29, Boozer and the rest of coach Jon Scheyer‘s Duke Blue Devils lost 72-73 to coach Dan Hurley’s UConn Huskies in the Elite Eight of the 2026 NCAA tournament in neutral territory, the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.
In a video posted by @cbssports on Instagram, play-by-play commentator Ian Eagle was heard confirming that Boozer suffered a right eye injury during the game. Boozer’s injury is reminiscent of a black eye, as the aforementioned video shows the first-year star being tended to by the Blue Devils medical staff. In fact, Eagle pointed out that Boozer was treating the injury with an ice-cold can of soda.
“ Look at that welt under the right eye. He looks like a boxer that went to his corner. This is a whole new one, a can of soda,” Eagle said.
“‘He’s like a boxer that went to his corner’ – Ian Eagle,” @cbssports on Instagram captioned.
Boozer still finished the game with a game-high 27 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two blocks in 39 minutes of playing time. Unfortunately for him and the rest of the Duke faithful, the Blue Devils lost 72-73 and are now eliminated from the 2026 March Madness. UConn, meanwhile, moves on to the NCAA Final Four.
Cameron Boozer Says His Whole Team Is Hurting And Bruised Up
In a video uploaded by @marchmadnessmbb on Instagram, an injured Cameron Boozer was captured during the post-game press conference of his Elite Eight loss.
In the clip, Boozer discussed the team’s overall sentiments following the defeat, and talked about how his squad is hurting and bruised from injuries. Nevertheless, Boozer is extremely proud of everyone.
“ I’m hurting right now. We’re all hurting. I wish I could’ve given more for those guys. You know, Caleb, Pat, Malik, you know, everyone’s hurting, dealing with injuries, coming and playing. You know, it took a lot of heart. It took a lot of balls to do that, you know, so I’m just proud of them, proud of our team,” Boozer shared.
