UConn Huskies coach Dan Hurley had a hyped-up statement for his family when they congratulated him following the team’s recent win.
On Sunday, March 29, Hurley and his Huskies beat coach Jon Scheyer’s Duke Blue Devils 73-72 in the Elite Eight of the 2026 NCAA tournament on neutral grounds, the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.
In a video uploaded by @marchmadnessmbb on Instagram, Hurley was seen greeting his family during the post-game celebrations, as they posed for a photo. In the process, Hurley’s wife, Andrea, and their sons, Andrew and Danny, congratulated and hugged Dan for his team’s accomplishment. Along with this, Dan himself was captured giving a statement to his family to invoke the aforementioned success.
“We ain’t letting you leave so quick. You stay, and we’ll walk,” Hurley exclaimed to his family.

Hurley and the Huskies epically won over the Blue Devils. They clawed their way back from a 19-point deficit in the second half and won through a game-winning three-pointer by UConn sharpshooter Braylon Mullins with just 0.3 seconds left in the game. With this victory, coach Hurley’s squad advanced to this year’s NCAA Final Four against coach Brad Underwood’s Illinois Fighting Illini.
Hurley has been at the helm of the Huskies’ coaching staff since 2018. So far in the 2025-26 campaign, he has spearheaded the Connecticut-based program to an overall record of 33-5 (17-3 Big East). Their focus now shifts to the aforementioned Fighting Illini clash, which they will face on Saturday, April 4, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Dan Hurley And His Son, Danny, Won Back-To-Back National Titles Together
With coach Dan Hurley and the UConn Huskies nearing another potential national title, this Final Four appearance is their first since they won it all back in 2024. In that run, Dan Hurley actually had one of his sons, Danny, rostered into the team.
They ended up winning consecutive national championships together in 2023 and 2024, before Danny Hurley graduated from the program after the latter campaign.
