Will Caleb Wilson Be at Duke vs UNC Game Tonight? Latest Update on the North Carolina Star

Caleb Wilson’s injury has been a major storyline for the North Carolina Tar Heels in the final stretch of the regular season. The number four-ranked Tar Heels are set to take on the number one-ranked Duke Blue Devils in the Atlantic Coast matchup tonight.

Wilson has been the Tar Heels’ backbone this season, averaging nearly 20 points per game with 9.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.5 steals. He is shooting at nearly 58% from the field this season.

His momentum was halted due to an injury. During a team practice, Wilson suffered an injury in his right thumb and had to undergo surgery for the same.

“North Carolina’s Caleb Wilson broke his right thumb in a non-contact drill in practice Thursday and has undergone season-ending surgery, sources tell ESPN. Wilson is expected to be cleared during the NBA predraft process, where he’ll compete to be the No. 1 pick in June,” ESPN’s Shams Charania reported.

Even though he will no longer lace up for his team, Wilson remains committed to the Tar Heels program and their journey this season. The matchup against Duke tonight is going to be intense, and Wilson will be there to support his team.

“UNC expects Caleb Wilson to be at Duke tonight to root on his teammates. He had surgery on his right thumb yesterday,” ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported.

The Tar Heels have been on a four-game winning streak. The Blue Devils, on the other hand, have won their last seven games in a row. While the team will miss Wilson’s contributions on the court, his presence to support his teammates will add to their motivation when going against Duke tonight.

Hubert Davis on Last Matchup Against Duke

This is the last game of the regular season for the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Duke Blue Devils. Both teams would be looking to end the season on a high note. The Tar Heels, however, would go in with a mental advantage.

In their last matchup, the Tar Heels trailed 29-41 at halftime. Hubert Davis’ team made a stunning comeback in the second half and won the game.

“I felt like in the second half we dominated points in the paint, and I thought that was huge for us,” Davis said. “In the first half, we had four. In the second half, we had 18, and so we had better shot selection.”

Davis was impressed with his team’s offense and defense, but gave a special mention to the offense for handling business in the second half, which resulted in a win against Duke.
