“Bust And I Told Y’all”: Fans React As AJ Dybantsa Struggles at One Skill in the NBA Draft Combine

BYU Cougars forward AJ Dybantsa is considered to be one of the potential top picks in the upcoming 2026 NBA Draft, but his draft stock may have gotten a hit. A video by NBA reporter Chase Hughes on X/Twitter on Tuesday, May 12, shows Dybantsa performing a three-point shooting drill that focused on shooting from the top-of-the-arc and both the left and right wings.

The first few seconds of the video saw Dybantsa miss several of his attempts, as some were too short while others hit the back iron. The Brockton, Massachusetts native did eventually pick it up and finished the drill hot, hitting from all the spots mentioned. Still, onlookers online are divided on how Dybantsa performed the drill.

Basketball fans and spectators did not react too kindly to Dybantsa’s performance in the three-point shooting drill at the draft combine.

“Bust and I told y’all…Who is the last hyped up BYU player to make it to the league and be great? Jimmer was the last one, and we saw how that ended,” one user pointed out.

“The one hole in his game,” another user claimed.

“Meanwhile, the 7’4 demon on the other court in the back is making more 3’s than him,” a user posted.

Other users all over X/Twitter believe that Dybantsa did not do well initially on purpose in the hopes of lowering his draft stock to not get drafted by the Washington Wizards.

“He went to BYU, which is in Utah. He def’ not trying to go #1 😂,” one fan said with an emoji.

“He making sure the Wizards don’t draft him 🤣🤣😂🤣,” another fan shared with a plethora of emojis.

“That boy don’t wanna go to the Wizards,” another user wrote.

“He’s missing on purpose!!!! He wants to be drafted at #2 by UTAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,” a fan exclaimed.

During his lone year of college basketball with coach Kevin Young’s Cougars, Dybantsa shot 33.1% from three-point territory as he made 1.4 threes on 4.2 attempts per game.

Dybantsa has always been known to be a spitfire scorer, and has shown flashes of a great shooting stroke from deep. But, he will likely have to work on his three-point shot further especially if he will end up being the top pick of this year’s draft.

Another video on X/Twitter shows AJ Dybantsa shooting three-pointers with more energy

Chase Hughes has since posted another video on X/Twitter that shows AJ Dybantsa shooting three-pointers with more energy.

According to Hughes, his initial video was taken when Dybantsa was already gassed with the drills and workouts during the draft combine. The latest video was taken when Dybantsa had fresher legs, and is evidently shown given that he shot his three-point attempts at a significantly better rate.
