AJ Dybantsa was arguably the best player in the country last season. While playing for a flawed BYU team, AJ Dybantsa had an exceptional individual season. His freshman season only lacked leadership skills, according to his own admission. He was the top scorer last season. He averaged 25.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
AJ Dybantsa is being touted as the number one pick in this year’s draft. If not number one, he is definitely going to be one of the top three. His impressive NBA draft combine measurements have only solidified his position at the top of the draft.
After the NBA draft lottery, Washington Wizards are set to get the first draft pick and for many AJ Dybantsa seems like the obvious choice. As the Wizards won the lottery, AJ Dybantsa’s cryptic reaction went viral. There was speculation that he was unhappy with that outcome. He cleared that up and said that he would be happy to play for any team. However, Stephen A. Smith has a warning for him.
“I felt sorry for him…The Washington Wizards have lost at least 64 games over the last three years. They are a basketball abomination. The only reason we don’t take time to insult them more is because of the stench emanating out of the nation’s capital for stuff other than basketball. That’s the only reason. If it was not for that, we’d be focused on them. They are horrible,” Smith said about AJ Dybantsa possibly joining the Washington Wizards.
Fans react to Stephen A. Smith’s warning for AJ Dybantsa
Fans did not agree with Smith and trolled the renowned analyst.
“Sure because Dybansta would be the first ever player drafted No. 1 overall to go to a losing franchise…,” one fan said sarcastically.
“Dybantsa will change that,” another fan claimed.
“That’s better than being drafted by the kings tbh,” one fan commented.
“DC is literally a better place to live in than the majority of NBA cities but yeah go ahead to middle of nowhere in Utah instead,” another said.
“AJ could be the catalyst of change in that market. Washington has legit built a really strong team if that idiot Anthony Davis could stop acting like a diva,” one fan claimed.
“I would like to disagree with this guy. I think the wizards will be a better competitive team because of their recruitment,” another stated.
