After taking over from former head coach James Franklin in what was touted to be one of the biggest mid-season debacles of the 2025 CFB season, current head coach Matt Campbell is now on a recruiting spree as the Penn State Nittany Lions gear up for the 2026 CFB season.
With a lot of high-profile 2026 prospects committed to Penn State, it looks like Matt Campbell is not just stopping there as the class of 2027 keeps getting stronger for the Pennsylvania-based program.
As per reports from On3 Sports’ national recruiting reporter Hayes Fawcett, TE Sean Currie is all slated to join Penn State’s class of 2027, having officially committed to the program. The 6’7″ offensive titan will now play under the stewardship of Matt Campbell despite receiving offers from at least nine other programs, including some big names like Ohio State, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, and Vanderbilt.
The New Jersey native will now join a stacked roster of 2027 prospects as Matt Campbell continues to weave his magic in the recruiting window.
Penn State Secures Seven Four-Star Commits in 2027 Cycle
Despite concluding their 2025 CFB season with an overall record of 7-6, it sure looks like Penn State’s reputation precedes its recent form, as the program has had no recruiting issues whatsoever.
Garnering a record number of 18 commits for the class of 2027, a total of seven four-star prospects have already committed to play for the Nittany Lions.
These recruits include the likes of cornerback Kei’Shjuan Telfair and tight end Cooper Terwilliger, who have already made it to ESPN SC Next’s top 300 prospects leaderboard.
With an overall grade rating of 82, Telfair is all set to play for Matt Campbell’s side despite receiving an offer from last season’s finalists, the Miami Hurricanes. Meanwhile, South Dakota native Cooper Terwilliger could very well form a potent partnership with fellow end Sean Currie as the Nittany Lions look to build a formidable attack across seasons.
