Nick Saban is widely considered one of if not the greatest college coaches of all time, so when he gives you some advice, you’re probably best served to take it.
And that’s exactly what Ty Simpson did when he was faced with a tough choice of either declaring for the NFL Draft, or considering a huge $6.5M offer from Miami and stick to college football.
Simpson chose to go with Saban’s advice, and will be part of the upcoming draft, but not everyone seems to have taken it very well.
Florida Hip Hop legend Luther “Luke” Campbell is one such individual. Incensed with Simpson’s decision, he spoke about the move and blamed Saban for not giving the quarterback the advice he deserved.
“You telling me that this man consulted with Nick Saban? Unbelievable. That makes no sense. That means you and your parents are not following what the hell is going on in America when it comes to college football,” Campbell said.
“If you’d have came to anybody else, me or anybody else, I’d have told you take your a** to college, stay in college bro. NFL, this s**t ain’t promised to you, first round draft pick ain’t promised to you. Them people get it wrong all the time.
“Nick Saban is trying to make a point that people like you son don’t deserve to get paid that type of money, you need to go to the league.”
Ty Simpson’s Draft Projections
While it isn’t clear who exactly could end up grabbing Ty Simpson, the general consensus is that Ty Simpson would be a first round pick in the NFL Draft.
The Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers are both best placed to pick Simpson in the draft and could do with a rookie QB coming in.
One of Alabama’s most influential players, Simpson has also been in the news lately for comments made after Indiana’s victory over the Crimson Tide en route to winning the National Championship.
Simpson’s draft future remains to be seen, but he could shut the critics up with a strong performance in his first season in the big time.
