To lure Lane Kiffin from Ole Miss, LSU pulled out all the stops, and now that he is the head coach of the Tigers, it seems that he and his family have been reaping the benefits. This includes a family trip to Boca Raton using his private airplane travel benefits. This trip costed $40,000 and was all paid for by LSU donors, as confirmed by documents from the LSU Board of Supervisors.
In Lane Kiffin’s contract, it stated that the new LSU head coach has 65 hours of private air travel for personal use. While this is common practice for the massive programs such as LSU, the school previously did not grant this perk to his predecessor, Brian Kelly, nor other previous coaches.
The documents revealed that the Tiger Athletic Foundation paid that $40,000-worth private plane ride back in March, with Kiffin also using that perk for business purposes, with four other trips from January to March of this year totaling to $65,000.
The report also revealed that other people close to Kiffin also availed of this benefit, including his ex-wife, Layla, his children and a nephew. All of them accompanied him for business trips from December of last year, which was when Kiffin was hired by the school. This includes a trip last December to the Texas Bowl.
While some of his trips were paid for by the university’s donors, other trips were compensated by LSY itself. It should be noted, however, that his contract does not state how much the school’s donors have to pay for his private travels.
Lane Kiffin’s Biography Will Drop Just Before the Game vs. Ole Miss
Meanwhile, Lane Kiffin will also be the subject of a book by John Talty titled “Lane Being Lane: The Story of Lane Kiffin, College Football’s Agent of Chaos.” This book’s release will be a timely one, as this will drop just three days before the showdown against his former school, Ole Miss.
The game will happen on September 19, 2026 and it will be talking about Lane Kiffin and his impact on college football. This could also give Ole Miss even more motivation against LSU, as Kiffin left the team just before the College Football Playoffs and sparking that historic run.
