Louisiana-Monroe Season Predictions: Predicting the Game-By-Game Results

Using groupthink, College Football Network analysts have painstakingly gone through every game for every team in the Sun Belt and across the country.

Find Every Sun Belt Season Prediction per team: App State | Arkansas State | Coastal Carolina | Georgia Southern | Georgia State | JMU | Louisiana | UL-Monroe | Marshall | ODU | South Alabama | Southern Miss | Texas State | Troy

Picking these games straight up with a projected score using the rosters as up-to-date as the last spring practice, do the Louisiana-Monroe season predictions forecast an upturn in fortunes for 2023?

Week 1 – Louisiana-Monroe vs. Army: Loss, 19-27

The Warhawks open their 2023 campaign against Army, facing the Black Knights for the third time in four years. ULM lost both previous encounters and unless a run defense that allowed the second-most yards per carry in the Sun Belt has tightened up over the off season, the third time won’t be a charm.

Week 2 – Louisiana-Monroe vs. Lamar: Win, 32-17

FCS Lamar are coming off a 1-10 season and will head to Monroe in just the second week of a rebuild under new head coach Pete Rossomando. Louisiana-Monroe hasn’t lost to their non-FBS opposition under Bowden, and they’re not about to start now.

Week 3 – Louisiana-Monroe at Texas A&M: Loss, 6-33

There’s lots of questions for the Texas A&M team after a dismal 2022 campaign. One of those isn’t going to be “how did they lose to Louisiana-Monroe” according to our season predictions, which forecast a comfortable home win for the Aggies.

Week 5 – Louisiana-Monroe vs. Appalachian State: Loss, 17-29

Louisiana-Monroe has never given up fewer than 30 points to Appalachian State, even in the Warhawks 2017 win over the Mountaineers. Although our season predictions expect the Mountaineers to leave Monroe with the win, holding the App State offense under 30 points is something to celebrate.

Week 6 – Louisiana-Monroe vs. South Alabama: Loss, 12-27

We’re expecting South Alabama to challenge for a Sun Belt title this season, and in Week 6 they sweep by Louisiana-Monroe on their way to a potential title game. The Jaguars return two pass catchers who gave the Warhawks significant trouble last fall, and with Carter Bradley back under center, don’t expect a different result.

Week 7 – Louisiana-Monroe at Texas State: Loss, 18-22

Clock management will be key in this clash of two contrasting styles. Bowden has stated he wants to be the Warhawks to be more clock-draining, power-run orientated this fall, while G.J. Kinne’s Texas State offense will be an up-tempo unit.

Our Louisiana-Monroe season predictions forecast a close game like last fall, but with a role reversal as it pertains to the result.

Week 8 – Louisiana-Monroe at Georgia Southern: Loss, 13-29

Stopping the Georgia Southern Eagles offense from soaring will be a tall task for the Warhawks in Week 8. They bring in Davis Brin who is more than capable of operating the high-volume passing attack that should be too strong for a Louisiana-Monroe defense that allowed 8.1 yards per pass attempt last fall.

Week 9 – Louisiana-Monroe vs. Arkansas State: Loss, 20-31

Louisiana-Monroe hasn’t beaten Arkansas State since 2009, and according to our season predictions the Warhawks aren’t going to be able to end that run this season. The Red Wolves have a narrow quarterback advantage, which could be the difference maker.

Week 10 – Louisiana-Monroe at Southern Miss: Loss, 19-20

The Warhawks finished their 2022 season with a defeat to Southern Miss. Although they’ve won two games in Hattiesburg previously, our Louisiana-Monroe season predictions see the Golden Eagles shading a close game that has overtime potential.

Week 11 – Louisiana-Monroe vs. Troy: Loss, 8-25

Sadly, the Warhawks just don’t possess the offensive firepower to overcome a suffocating Troy Trojans defense, with a repeat of their late-season defeat last season looking extremely likely according to our Louisiana-Monroe season predictions.

Week 12 – Louisiana-Monroe at Ole Miss: Loss, 8-42

Credit to Louisiana-Monroe for not bolstering their out-of-conference schedule with easy wins to flesh out their overall record. Last season they travelled to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama and they make the journey to Oxford to take on Ole Miss this season where one of the top running backs in the nation, Quinshon Judkins, will likely have a say in a one-sided game.

Week 13 – Louisiana-Monroe at Louisiana: Loss, 18-29

The Warhawks got an early-season Battle on the Bayou win last season, but our Louisiana-Monroe season predictions suggest that a return to the established order of things may see the Warhawks fall to their in-state rivals on the final weekend of the 2023 college football season. Desormeaux’s Ragin’ Cajun team should have found their feet by the last game of the year.
