South Carolina wide receiver Nyck Harbor arrived at SEC Media Days looking a little different than fans are used to seeing. Harbor arrived at the Media Days without his prescription glasses.
Speaking with reporters in Atlanta, Harbor laughed off at the incident when asked about his missing glasses.
“My mom broke my glasses. I don’t got no glasses today,” Harbor said with a smile.
“We were in New York, and she was going through my book bag, and she dropped the glasses, and they just broke apart. I was like, ‘Ma, I think that’s the first time I’ve never seen you break my glasses.’ But, we got it right. We’re gonna get some new ones.”
The lighthearted moment offered a break from the usual football talk surrounding the South Carolina star.
Last season harbor recorded 30 receptions for 618 yards and six touchdowns.
Beyond his production on the field, Harbor has also continued to earn recognition for his work away from football. He is nominated for the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
Shane Beamer Confident in South Carolina Despite Outside Doubts
South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer delivered a confident message about the Gamecocks heading into the new season.
Despite preseason skepticism surrounding his team, Beamer made it clear that the opinions outside the program are not changing his expectations.
“Nobody thinks we’re worth a shoot, and that’s okay,” Beamer said.
“I mean, all you guys picked us high last year, and the same reason you picked us high last year, like those same players are back this year, which just blows my mind. Like last year, y’all thought we were going to be pretty good because we had a good season, and we had guys like the three three here today, and Dylan Stewart and whoever else returning; we picked aside. All those guys are back, and they’re a year older. But everybody… so you know it is what it is. We don’t pay a whole lot of attention to that.”
Rather than worrying about preseason projections, he emphasized that his team intends to let its play do the talking once the season begins.
“Just kind of leave us alone, let us go to work, and we’ll see everybody in September,” he added.
With the Gamecocks carrying high expectations into the upcoming season, Beamer expects Harbor to play a major role in the team’s offense.
