When Lane Kiffin left Oxford to join LSU last year, his son Knox had an emotional three-word message for the team. “thank you oxford,” he wrote on his Instagram amid all the chaos surrounding Lane’s departure from Ole Miss.
Knox is a class of 2028 quarterback who played his freshman season in Southern California. His parents and siblings have always been supportive of his career and are often spotted cheering for him during games.
Lane’s ex-wife, Layla, is seen at Knox’s games more than any other member of the Kiffin family. As per her recent Instagram update, the experience of watching her son chase his football dreams never gets old.
“Watching him never gets old,” she wrote on her Instagram story as she went to Knox’s recent game.
Lane and Layla announced their divorce in February 2016. It was a mutual decision after 12 years of marriage and having three kids together. After the divorce, Lane and Layla continued to do their part for their kids.
“We are fully committed to our kids’ future, being our No. 1 priority. We will maintain an amicable relationship with respect for each other as we raise these three wonderful children,” Lane said at the time.
In January, several reports suggested that Lane and Layla had reconciled their relationship. They didn’t acknowledge the rumors publicly, but several instances suggest that Lane and Layla might’ve reconciled privately.
In April 2025, Lane posted a picture on Instagram, making a heart shape with another woman’s hand. Their faces weren’t visible in the image, and Lane didn’t tag anyone in the post, but his daughter commented, “Omg,” on the post, sparking a wave of speculations that the woman in the picture might’ve been Layla.
Lane Kiffin’s Current Roster at LSU is Worth $40 million
Kiffin joined the LSU Tigers in the middle of a successful season run with the Ole Miss Rebels. His team was playoff-bound and was seen as one of the strongest title contenders. Still, he chose to leave the program.
With that decision, Kiffin added more pressure to deliver with the Tigers in his first season as their head coach. So far, he has left no stone unturned in making the Tigers title contenders. As per Brian Kelly, the Tigers’ roster is worth $40 million.
“It’s really created a system that makes players go in, and like I said in the beginning, when it was first created, at least now there’s only one window. You basically had created a system that was two times a year as a player, so I don’t blame them,” he said.
When the next season starts, fans will expect Kiffin to live up to their expectations and deliver a national title.
