Ohio State Buckeyes cornerback Davison Igbinosun shared major props to fellow wide receiver Jeremiah Smith at the 2026 NFL Combine in Indianapolis. The cornerback was asked about the toughest receivers he’s ever covered during his college career.
Igbinosun named Smith as the hardest receiver he’s ever had to guard.
“They’re all tough to guard. But I would say who stood out the most is Jeremiah Smith. He walked in the building doing some things we’ve never seen before. So I would say him,” the cornerback said.
Smith appreciated the shout-out from Igbinosun, sharing his respect and love on social media:
“🤝🏾💯”
Igbinosun’s remarks hold high value. He has faced the top receivers from the best programs in Power Five and if he says Smith is the best, then he might indeed be. Smith made his mark in his college football debut game against the Akron Zips, recording six receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns in the 52–6 win.
In his freshman season, he was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and Big Ten Receiver of the Year. Moreover, he was the top receiver in the Buckeyes’ 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship win.
Last season, in 13 games started, Smith caught 87 receptions for 1,243 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Davison Igbinosun Reveals High NFL Ambitions
At the 2026 NFL Combine, Davison Igbinosun made it clear what his goals are once he gets drafted in April. He is not selling himself short, aiming to become the best cornerback in the history of the game.
“I won a state championship in high school, I won a national championship in college, and I want to win a Super Bowl. I want to be one of the best cornerbacks to ever suit it up, ever lace it up,” the cornerback said.
In order to reach that elite status, Igbinosun notes the improvements he looks forward to make in his game, including cutting down on penalties and improving technique.
“I would say what helped me to improve that was I had to acknowledge what I was doing wrong, and I had to clean it up and fix it. I would say just my poise at the top of the route, and just relying more on my feet than my hands,” the cornerback added.
It remains to be seen when the cornerback from Ohio State gets drafted in April.
